To load microfilm, first pull the carrier handle forward until the glass plate lifts up.
Next, push the microfilm reel onto the left spindle with the film coming over the top of the reel, and feed it under the white plastic roller.
Pull the film under the top glass plate to the right side, keeping it underneath the white plastic roller there, and insert the end of the film into the slot in the take-up reel.
Wind the take-up reel a few times by hand to get the film feeding through properly. Now you may push the carrier tray back into place under the camera, or, if the pages you want are toward the end of the roll of film, leave it out while you press the Forward/Fast Forward buttons for faster film travel. Note: Do not allow the film to entirely unwind off the original reel. When you are done with the reel, pull the carrier handle forward to lift the glass plate and use the red Rewind button to return the film to the reel.
You can use the film Forward/Rewind controls on the carrier, or the virtual film advance controls at the bottom of the screen:
In addition, note the scroll bars along the bottom and right sides; use your cursor to move these for best image placement on the screen.
To load a sheet of microfiche, simply insert it between the glass plates, face down and top of sheet away from you.
Push the carrier forward until the top glass plate lowers all the way. Use the carrier handle to move it around until the image you want is under the camera.
