Microform Viewer/Scanner: Home

Using the BCL microform viewer/scanner

Microforms at Bethel College Library

The library owns a range of the New York Times from 1851 to 1999, as well as the Wall Street Journal (1971-2002), on microfilm. Find them, and selected other titles on microfilm and microfiche, in the northeast corner of the library main level (near the Interlibrary Loan desk). To use our digital microform reader/scanner, feel free to ask a library staff member, or use the instructions in this guide.

The Microform Viewer/Scanner

The microform viewer is attached to a computer system that allows users to view documents available on microfilm and microfiche.  The ViewScan program lets users adjust the quality of the image, and print or save images as computer files for later viewing.

The microform viewer/scanner is located just east of the Interlibrary Loan desk on the library main level, along with the microfilm and microfiche cabinets.

Launching the ViewScan program

To begin, turn on the computer (if necessary) and log in with your network credentials. Double click the ViewScan Premium program icon on the desktop:

When you see this screen, click anywhere to continue loading the program:
