Hints and tips for finding book reviews in journals, magazines, and online.

Free websites with book reviews

  • Amazon  
  • Search in "Books," then title of book, put title in " " (quotes) to find it easier. Once you find the title, click on it--descriptive material usually includes editorial and other outside reviews.
  • Barnes & Noble  
    Search in Books (from drop-down menu) using basic or advanced search feature. Once found, click on title of book. Reviews include "Overview" from respected reviewing sources and "customer" reviews.
  • Book Spot
  • Go to "What to Read" on far left, then click on "Book Reviews"--a number of sources for book reviews are listed.
  • BookWire provides not only links to book review sources on the Internet but information about publishers, libraries, etc.
  • New York Times on the Web:  Books. Access up to 20 articles free/month at the New York Times.
  • The InterNet Scout Report  
    A quality website that focuses on best websites to find, filter, and deliver online information. Type in "book reviews" in search box.
  • EarlyWord  
    Reviews for upcoming books yet to be released by category, including books to movies, lists and links to other book review sites.
