Once you have selected a topic and created a research question, you can begin searching for relevant literature. You can search across all databases and resource formats using the Primo search tool or search with more focus in a specific database. You don't need to read a research article from beginning to end. In fact, we don't recommend it. You may start by reading the abstract, move on to the introduction, check out the results and discussion, and then skim the rest. For more details, check out this video!
What if you don't find what you are looking for with the first couple of searches you perform? You may need to try using different search terms or keywords.
You can use ChatGPT to help by asking it to brainstorm search terms. Simply type in your research question and ask it to create search terms.
For example, you could try composing a prompt like this, "Produce search terms for the following research question: How does equine-assisted therapy effect post-traumatic stress disorder in veterans?"
