Nursing: CINAHL Quick Lessons

CINAHL Quick Lessons

CINAHL has a feature called Quick Lessons, which provides general background information on approximately 180 topics. Each quick lesson includes information on the topic's description/etiology, facts and statistics, risk factors, symptoms and clinical presentation, assessment, treatment goals, and more, as well as a list of references that provide further information.

While the Quick Lessons are written, edited, and reviewed by RNs, they are published by CINAHL Information Systems, so they are not considered journal articles. Use these for background information and helpful references.

You can get to the Quick Lessons by using the More menu at the top center of the CINAHL search screen:

Then you'll see a screen where you can either browse for a topic alphabetically, or search for a topic using the search box:

Quick lessons interface in CINAHL Plus with arrows pointing to search and navigation options.

You can view the Quick Lessons by checking one or more topic checkboxes, and then clicking Search at the top of the list:

Arrows indicating how to select and then search for specific quick lessons by topic.

Once you hit Search, you'll see a page with all the Sheets you selected:

From the item record, you can print, save, or email the full-text. You can also find a machine-generated citation.
