Background of 2019-nCoV

Healthcare providers and officials around the world are responding to the outbreak of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV). This virus manifests as a respiratory disease that was first detected in Wuhan, China. There are now confirmed cases of the disease in over 60 countries worldwide including the United States. This guide aims to give readers a general overview of 2019-nCoV and to provide resources to help readers explore further.

Tips to help prevent the spread

Tips from the World Health Organizaiton

  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Wash your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water
  • Maintain social distancing (at least three feet)
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, or mouth
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a bent elbow or disposable tissue when coughing or sneezing
  • If you have fever, cough, or difficulty breathing seek medical care early
  • Follow advice given by your medical care provider
  • Stay informed!
